Decentralized Identity & Data Ownership: Implementing the SOLID Protocol for Secure Electronic Portfolios

This research explores a new approach to digital identity and personal data control through the SOLID protocol, specifically for electronic portfolios. Unlike traditional platforms which require users to upload sensitive personal information to centralized systems owned by third party companies or corporations, this study proposes a model where users store their data in personal data stores (Pods) while retaining full ownership and control over it.

Why are we doing this? The growing use of digital hiring platforms has sparked concerns around data privacy, security, and ownership. As cases of data and privacy breaches become more prevalent, there is a clear need for more secure and user-centric approach to managing personal and professional information. This research seeks to address these challenges by giving users full control over digital identities and portfolios, enabling safer interactions between applicants and recruiters.
